Frank van Harmelen is one of the six awardees in Artificial Intelligence Responsible Use call
Last summer, six applications were awarded in the multidisciplinary call Artificial Intelligence Responsible Use. The funding of these projects is made possible by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy, the Top Sector ICT and the NWO Domains Science (ENW) and SSH. All applications are public-private partnerships. One of the awarded projects is: PROXCAI: Profile-based eXplanations of medical treatment searches using Collaborative Artificial Intelligence, by Frank van Harmelen. Modern AI systems are unable to explain their decisions, resulting in a lack of trust from users. We will study how to improve trust by creating an AI-based collaborative tool which will help a medical team in finding clinical trials for patients, while tailoring explanations to experts and patients.
